Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She's also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. The site hosts videos which include commentary on the depictions of women in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit educational site that explores the representation of women in pop culture narratives - is created and is directed by Sarkeesian. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes of women as they are depicted in pop media. Furthermore she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women, and other the marginalized communities of people. With a master's in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaker and she has delivered speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as at the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. When she was a student at the university she became concerned about issues related to gender and rights for women in the early stages. A woman with ambitions to create a web series that examined the representation of gender in video games, she was targeted by an internet-based campaign. Her determination was not slowed by the assault, in fact it only reinforced her drive to become an expert on media and feminism. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades for her numerous prominent contributions to the field of feminism.
